Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. The site hosts videos which include commentary on the depictions of women in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives was the result of her research. The site also has the executive director. She's committed to removing stereotypes about women and how they appear in popular culture. Furthermore, she works to raise awareness of online harassment directed at women and the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian also holds a York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. Alongside being a well-known public speaker she has made speeches at the TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by feminist issues, gender and gender equality since a young time. In 2009, when she was continuing to study at the university level, she created her Feminist Frequency site. An ambitious woman who wanted to create a web series that examined the representation of gender in video games, she was targeted by an internet-based campaign. But the harassment did not discourage her. The experience only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. Sarkeesian has been awarded many awards for her contributions to the cause of feminism. She also serves as the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organisation that studies pop culture gender representations.
